Each one of us aspires to have a smooth and flawless skin. Men desire a healthier and younger looking skin as much as women do. Today, we have a huge range of skin care products for men. But the most imperative question is how to decide which skin care product is beneficial for you? In the past decade, the health and beauty industry has undergone some radical changes. The industry has experimented with chemical-based products but is now realizing the significance of age-old natural ways, which has ushered a whole new range of Botanical skin care products.

Botanical skin care has been an imperative part of every civilization. The methods our ancestors used seem to be resurfacing in the contemporary botanical products. Botanical simply means skincare products in which botanical or natural ingredients are the core of the product. From flowers to leaves to roots and even the seeds, plant extract can become the core elements for skin care products. Plants are known to have healing and regenerative qualities. They also contain essential oils, vitamins, and antioxidants all of which have been proved to benefit us in some way or the other. Well, it would seem our ancestors knew what they were doing after all! Today you will find botanical ingredients incorporated in many modern skin care products for women and men. Some of the most beneficial ones are:

Aloe Vera: Probably the most popular botanical ingredient used, aloe vera is extracted from a stemless plant that has a fleshy leaves, the rosettes of the leaves are processed to extract a hydrating gel. This gel contains more than 70 nutrients, from vitamins and minerals, this gel has it all. It also has a healthy dose of amino acids, which initiates a cell-renewal process along with Vitamin B that aids the skin in resisting aging.      

Arnica: Also known as Arnica Montana, this has been a common medical ingredient for thousands of years. Arnica is known to reduce inflammation along with healing wounds. Belonging to the sunflower family, Arnica is rich in polyphenols, which is the pigmented part of the plant. The core component of Arnica is thymol, which has a highly antiseptic. This ingredient is also known for effectiveness in neutralizing the effects of negative energy of radicals.

Witch Hazel: The extracts from the hamamelis tree is known as the Witch Hazel. This is an alcoholic extract is taken from the leaves, bark, and flowers of the tree. The ingredient is a blend of around 15% of ethyl alcohol (for preservation) and around 86% of aqueous witch extract. Witch Hazel is actually one of the best astringents that nature could offer. It has a mild styptic property that reduces razor burn and is an excellent toner for the skin.
